Arizona Love Tevas

Last summer, I splurged on Chanel Tevas — and I wore them all day every day. They made me so happy because they were the perfect mixture of how I see myself: half city girl, half hippy chick. That said, I never wanted to hike in them because although they are technically tevas, they still are Chanel and are not hiking worthy. So last month when a friend introduced me to Arizona Love tevas, I fell in love AGAIN and knew I had to buy two pairs immediately. Arizona Love tevas are a true combination of uniqueness and practicality. A little bit of flair and a whole lot of comfort. LOVE LOVE LOVE them.

My issue was that I couldn’t decide on just one, so I had to buy two. But knowing me and my summer lifestyle, I will get  use out of both of them.

Braided Hair

As a gift for my birthday this past Saturday, I was sent a hair stylist and make up artist by the CEO of Glamsquad. She is the mother of one of my students and insisted that she was sending the best of the best to make me feel special on my special day. I don’t love getting my hair and make up done, but this time, I told them I was open to them doing whatever they wanted (more flexibility when you turn 40?!?!?). And holy smokes, I was so happy with the result. I loooooooooove my hair and now if I get my hair done, I am going to show them pictures of this because I loved it so much.

I told the stylist that I loved braids but could do a crown braid myself, so to do something different and unique. The top portion is a normal inside out braid and then it goes in to a fish tail braid.

Down Leg Warmers

I know, I know, I included these down leg warmers in a post last month, but they are so good that I needed to create a post devoted solely to them. As I mentioned before, a good friend gave them to me saying that “they were so me.” And she was so right — they are so me — anything that shimmer and shines I love (metallic, sparkle, sequin) AND they are practical and useful (I am one of those devoted sneaker wearers because heels are not practical). Since New York is freezing cold in the winter and I continue to run outside in the winter months, these leg warmers are a game changer. This past week, in 22 degrees (where it actually felt more like 13 degrees), these leg warmers kept me toasty warm. I never feel cold when I am wearing them! So if anyone is a runner in the cold weather and wants to be warmer — these are a must. A MUST.

Yep, down leg warmers. They literally make your (almost) naked legs feel so toasty and warm!

Nike Windbreaker

I am currently on Orcas Island off the coast of Washington State in the San Juan Islands. It is incredibly beautiful with its lush green mountains, crystal clear lakes, Cascade Mountain views, and the Pacific Ocean. It is literally a summer dream, except for the fact that it is quite brisk and on the colder side. Going into the week I had no idea about the chilly temperatures, so when I got to Seattle with ONE sweatshirt, I ended up at the Nike Store (in Seattle) and bought a windbreaker. Yes, it was a spur of the moment purchase, but I am SO happy with it, I can’t seem to take it off (and not just because I need it). It is lightweight, retro stylish, cool, unique, and the perfect layer on piece.  I plan to wear it on runs, casually, and basically, all day everyday!

Retro windbreaker — both the design, the look, and the color. But I love it!

Vintage Denim Jacket

As of a few months ago, I had not bought something at a vintage store since High School (when I was a regular at our local Goodwill to buy denim). Fast forward to this spring when I was on a mad and unsuccessful hunt for the perfect denim jacket.  I was looking for something perfectly weathered / cropped / and that fit like a glove.  Wherever I looked or asked for help, I had no luck. Then, at the recommendation from a stylish friend, I went to 9th Street Vintage, and bought my new favorite piece of clothing, a vintage denim jacket.

This jacket is from the 30s! How cool is that! Almost 90 years old — and so supers stylish and cool. GAWD I love it.

African Printed Overalls – Royal Native

My only purchase of the summer has been not *one* but *two* pairs of African printed overalls from Royal Native. They are so fun, vibrant, unique, and different.  I ordered one pair and loved them so much, that I immediately ordered a second. If they weren’t all currently sold out, I would order a third pair (a girl can’t have too many crazy pairs of overalls, can she?)

The yellow overalls. They are described as "THE SEXY TOMBOY piece de resistance in your wardrobe," and I couldn't agree more.

Currently Loving….April ’15

Spring is officially here! And although I have spent the entire winter moaning and groaning about the cold, I now have about 15 minutes of non-complaints before I start with the dissing and hating NYC weather once the humidity and heat start….which knowing New York could happen any minute! On top of loving Spring, here are other things that I am currently loving!

1. Ample Hills Ice Cream

Frozen custard.

Now that it is almost the marathon GULP SWEAT FREAK OUT PANIC WHAT OH WHAT AM I DOING (I leave on Thursday night for the marathon), I have been carbo loading every single day, which means eating pints upon pints of ice cream. And once you try Ample Hills Ice Cream, you just can’t go back to eating plain old regular ice cream. This stuff is the real stuff.  Click here for my full post.

Summer Hair

99.99% of the time, my hair is up in an olive-oyl chignon. I rarely wear it in a different style…guilty of being boring and predictable! Luckily, contributing editor Ali, via her hair stylist, Kate has some tips for us! Here they are! Thanks, Ali and Kate! Take it away!

Ali, and her amazingly styled, perfectly cut hair. Thanks to Kate! (and genetics, too. Obvi).

Ace and Jig / Ali

When I find something I love, I become obsessed. And that has officially happened with “Ace & Jig“.  I am head over heels in love and want absolutely everything in the collection. EVERYTHING. This fun, happy clothing line is part hippy, part urban, part country, ever so comfortable, totally stylish, and a must-have for everyone.

Screen Shot 2013-04-20 at 6.55.35 AMAce & Jig’s collection is made with the most comfortable, soft yarn-dye woven fabric from India. It is the type of clothing that is so uber wearable, that you never want to take it off.

Each piece of clothing has a stripe in the pattern. Some are solid vibrant stripes, whereas some are more subtle pops of color. And who doesn’t love stripes?

Cary Vaughan and Jenna Wilson, the designers of Ace & Jig, describe their clothing as “aesthetically beautiful yet functional… Accessible clothes that are not overstyled, pieces that you keep forever and love.” And it is so true.  True love! And the price point is perfect, making it possible to buy not just one of their shirts or dresses, but multiple!

Call me a hoarder. Or obsessive. OR RAD!

The Coveteur / The Beckermans

So apparently, I am one of the last people on this planet to find out about the Beckerman sisters….but better late than never, because now I have a new blog to obsess ever! The Beckermans are three (yes THREE) stylish, sassy, blonde sisters. Almost four years ago, they started blogging their outfits online and instantly became a hit — so much so that they have teamed up with major brands (Nine West, Juicy Couture, H&M, etc…) for collaborations.

Two of the three Beckerman Babes!

The trio, Caillianne (love the name!), Samantha, and Chloe, chronicle their outfits on the blog with their wit, humor, and style. So who better than The Coveteur to take a look inside their closet to see their flea-market finds and designer gems! Here are exclusive photos of the Beckermans a la Coveteur style!
