Doen Shorts

Introduced to me by Bestie Barkley, I am thoroughly obsessed with Doen shorts. BB gave them to me as a present in June, and since then I have worn them hundreds of times. They are the perfect weight, comfort level, look, style. I love them so much.

Same shorts, different day.

Me in the shorts she gave me (and the tee she also gave me — which I am also obsessed with).

Better angle (aka not selfie)

She then talked me in to getting the yellow pair which she said I would wear all the time. And of course, she always knows better than me, because I was hesitant at first, but since I got them, I wear them ALL. THE. TIME.

The back.

From above.

And on. With two of my three babies.

I love love love them. And I will wear them until I return to the city and am forced to wear pants. Until then, everyone around me might get sick of them, but I will not. I wear a size S in them for reference. Can’t get enough.

Ice Cream Cake Hack

I know I did this post several years ago, but for new readers AND old readers, I decided it needed to be shared again! An easy ice cream cake hack — so easy, it’s totally cheating but so delicious and fun to make. All you need is ice cream sandwiches, homemade whipping cream, chocolate syrup, and some type of topping like crushed Oreos. And voila, ice cream sandwich cakes.

You line a baking vessel with wax paper, and then put the first layer of ice cream sandwiches. I bought mini ones so they were easy to fit in and didn’t need to be cut.

Then I added hot fudge.

Layer of whipped cream.

Another layer of ice cream sandwiches.

Repeat — but this time I did whipped cream first.

Then added crushed Oreos. And you put it in the freezer for a couple of hours.

BOOM. Tasty ice cream cake.

Loved by everyone.

Since summer is almost over (don’t remind me or I will start sobbing), I highly recommend making it before it ends! I promise you it will be a hit!

Rachel Comey Web Bag

Last summer, I purchased a Rachel Comey bag and wore it every single day. It is easy to pack, fun, different, and cute. And NOW…drum roll……they came out with a new version of the bag in more neutral colors. I love it so much and thought you would love it, too! So sharing it with you all! The Rachel Comey Web Bag. (And yes, seems odd to be looking at summer bags when it is 10 degrees outside, but I need some HOPE / LIGHT / INSPIRATION / WARM DREAMS so am searching online for what I love….)

Me over the summer (with my brother and his family) wearing the bag. For whatever reason, I cannot find pictures of my bag anywhere. I guess I don’t take pictures of me wearing bags.

Banana Egg Pancake

I posted this breakfast hack several years ago, but it is so good that I think it is important I tell you AGAIN just in case you missed it the first time. TWO ingredient pancakes. They are beyond easy and so delicious that everyone in the family will like. The two ingredients: banana and egg. Et voila,  2 ingredient pancakes.

You take 1 banana and 2 eggs (or 1/2 banana and 1 egg) and smash it together. yes, if you use a blender, it is smoother and nicer (but that also means more of a mess to clean up). So I am A OK with clumps, and just smash it and mix together in one bowl.

Pizza Calzone

In the constant search to find new recipes and things to eat, my-sister-from-another-mister told me about an easy pizza calzone recipe from NYTimes that everyone in the family loved. Not only was it super easy, but also very tasty. I altered the recipe (shocker) to include more greens, but it is one of those recipes that you can do what you want with it, and it will turn out delicious.

Made-In-The-Pan Chocolate Cake

I have had the tab with this NY Times recipe open for months, so finally I decided to make it (COVID 19—- 19 pounds over normal weight here weeeeeeeee commmmmmmeeeeeee). Super easy, fun to make, and delicious. Randomly, it is vegan too (which just means no eggs in this cake recipe) so my dairy free friends can make this and love it. It is a great cake to make with kids and when you are sick of dishes.

Lou Malnati’s Pizza

I am a pizza lover. I might even go out on a limb and say that I am a both a pizza fanatic and snob. I love pizza and could eat it every night for dinner, but it has to be good pizza. Not the type of pizza that they serve at kids’ birthday parties (barf) or the kind that is soggy / too thick / bad sauce / overly cheesey / greasy, etc….  But once I find a pizza I like, I am a devoted fan. My favorite pizza places in NYC are hands down: Marta and Rubirosa. But when I can’t get to those restaurants (my husband isn’t a fan of eating pizza for dinner — he prefers it for lunch or a snack — one of our few conflicts), I love a frozen pizza. NOT JUST ANY FROZEN pizza, but Lou Malnati’s Pizza.

Lou.

Lou. We love you Lou.

Josie Fragrance / Bloomingdale’s Event

Josie-Bloomingdales-Invite

As the Josie girl, I love everything Josie. The prints, the material, the vibe, the lifestyle, and especially the new fragrance. Launched this past Summer, the fragrance is effortless, confident, and light. Just the right amount of subtle sweetness paired with crisp. The scent is a vibrant accord of crisp Asian Pear and Bergamot (LOVE!), followed by Sampaguita (the national flower of the Philippines), Freesia, and Wild Orchid. The perfect harmony of smells. And now, what is even more amazing is that the fragrance comes in a rollerball! Perfect for your purse, a stocking stuffer, or travel.  Cha-ching.

White Summer Dress

Hi ladies! Thanks so much for all the positive feedback from the feature in Lonny. We were really nervous about it, but we’re very happy with the article.  The Lonny team was so great to work with! SOOOO….one of the most frequently asked questions was what dress I wore for the Pound Ridge shoot. Good question, as I *LOVE* this dress and it is oh-so-perfect for hot-sunny-firefly types of summer days and nights.

Sorry for yet ANOTHER show of this picture, but instead of focusing on the whole image, look specifically at the dress! (It turned out nice on camera, right?)

This white dress is by Mes Demoiselles — an oh so chic and fashionable Parisian line. The dress is a crinkled gauze and eyelet, with a gathered elastic waist, and tiers added to the skirt base. It comes with a cotton slip lining so you don’t have to worry about panty lines. It is a perfection combination of casual and put-together, day and night, easy and effort-less, vintage and new.

You can wear it with or without a belt, too. The belt adds a little more flavor and style, but I also love the simplicity and solid color without the belt.
