Earlier this month in California, my sista-from-another-mister, hosted a Flower Crown Gathering (yes, I feel the need for it to be capitalized) at her home in the Bay Area. As always, Amy pulled it together like Martha Stewart and made everything look so beautiful and perfect. The party consisted of a couple of friends, delicious home-made appetizers, free flowing drinks, and a class on flower crown making led by florist and designer Sarah Padilla.

Another proud flower crown made by yours truly.

Sarah (the florist), brought Amy a breath-taking bouquet to put in her foyer. So classy, lush, and gorgeous.

Sarah provided all the flowers and the instructions on how to make the crowns.

The table lined with all the flowers to choose from.

The twine used to make the crowns. First, using flower tape (who knew there was such a thing, but it is brilliant and sold at Michael’s / Amazon), we made little corsages with a handful of different flowers. Once the little corsages were finished (10-20 of them depending on how heavy you want the crown), we taped them to the twine.

Sarah was a joy to work with. Not only is she super knowledgeable, but she was bubbly and fun. Plus, she is Obama’s florist when he visits the Bay Area.

Amy made some pea-bruschetta to snack on. TO DIE FOR.

The most colorful veggie platter with home-made Green Goddess dressing. Amy always knows how to do it right.

My crown. The finished product. I wanted a lot of different pinks / reds / and greens.

Amy and her gorgeous yellow-themed-crown.

Ribbon on the back. Yes, I am proud of my piece of art and needed a second picture of it on the blog.

The ladies and our crowns. All dressed up and nowhere to go.

We should have gone to a Music Festival!!!!! Actually, I think we were quite happy to watch “Odd Mom Out” and “Barely Famous” curled up on the couch eating chocolate. That said, in my OTHER life, we would have raced to the desert and gone to the first rave we found wearing our oh-so-chic-crowns. We are #FlowerPrincesses.
Thank you, Amers, for hosting an incredibly fun, unique, and beautiful party. As always, I love spending time with my soul sister, meeting your Bay Area friends, and being a part of a meditative and creative practice such as a Flower Crown Gathering. I wish I could do this with my ZERO friends in Oregon. Instead, I will continue to make daisy crowns for Toosh and pretend they are like the ones we made in Cali.
Hope you are having a great week and not grieving over the fact that AUGUST IS ALMOST HERE MY FLIPPING GOODNESS.
Your daughter!!
