A true sign of a friend is when you receive a gift that shows that they are listening (which believe it or not, people don’t tend to do these days) to your stories. Several months ago, I nauseatingly bored my bestie to death with the fact that I had recently cleaned out the kitchen of our Pound Ridge home, and had thrown out 3 garbage bags worth of spices from 1985. So last weekend, when we visited Pound Ridge, I was astonished to find a huge present from my friend containing SPICES. To anyone else, this might seem like a whoa, cool, gift. But to me, it was beyond thoughtful, considerate, generous, and heartfelt. My friend listened, heard, and responded. Amazing. And let me tell you, these are not just any spices, they are the KING OF SPICES. (I don’t usually get excited by spices, but let me tell you, these are above and beyond any other type of spice!)
She gifted us three different collections of spices from Penzey. The Grill and Broil set includes Northwoods Seasoning, BBQ 3000, Galena Street Rib Rub, Jerk Chicken/Fish Seasoning, Cajun Seasoning, Lemon Pepper, 4/S, Bicentennial Rub.
The Bakers’ set includes China Cinnamon, Natural High Fat Cocoa, Baking Spice, Double Strength Madagascar Pure Vanilla Extract.
And The American Kitchen set includes Cajun Seasoning, Fox Point Seasoning, Singapore Seasoning, Buttermilk Ranch Dressing Base, China Ginger Powder, Sweet Curry Powder, Chinese Five Spice, Italian Herb Seasoning.
Not only are the spices fresh and high quality, but the packaging is beautiful and well thought out. In every box, there are loose bay leaves (which I use in every soup I make), cinnamon sticks, and whole nutmeg. UNBELIEVABLE. Each gift collection also comes with recipes on ways to use each of the spices.
Thank you, friend, for always being so thoughtful and attentive. I am in love (and love you!)
Anyone have recipe suggestions for all my new spices?
These look amazing. I want to be your friend’s friend!
How thoughtful! I love the packaging with the fresh spices.
So true… it seems most people really don’t genuinely listen & put little effort into what they gift. Great friend you have! I like that each box is organized by a theme & the packaging is great!
These spices look delicious! My husband loves to cook, and I might just have to buy a set of these for him. He would love the added whole spices. (If you need an idea for the cinnamon, we love making homemade horchata!)
