With New York Fashion Week in full swing, I was delighted to attend the Spring 2016 Josie Natori Fashion presentation yesterday. It was a striking, beautiful, breathtaking and unique experience. And as always, I am incredibly proud of and impressed by my talented mother-in-law and her whole design team. BRAVO for a fabulous production. And BRAVO to the team for making the FRONT COVER of Women’s Wear Daily this morning!!! Read the glowing review here.
The invitation.
The show took place at Skylight Clarkson Square, which is one of the official new homes of NYFW. It definitely felt bigger and more important than past shows. The show also launched the new Josie Natori eveningwear collection which will complement the continuing Ready-to-Wear collection.
Inside the big warehouse, waiting to get in line for the show. Very cool, artsy, fashionista vibe.
Just because my father-in-law (cutest man in history, pictured above) and I have the same last name as the designer, we didn’t get special treatment. We also had to wait in line to get in.
Upon entering, lights, camera, action! There was a stage where the models showed the clothing, and everyone else could look closely and take pictures.
The format of the presentation allowed the audience to get an upclose look at the fine details and embellishments. To the left of the pink camerman (gotta love him and his style!) is my gorgeous model of a mother-in-law.
The looks. HELLO OSCAR MOVIE AWARDS DRESS.
All the clothing was divine! In total, there were 19 ensembles on 19 models.
Black and white. A la Natori, many of the pieces and collections are inspired by Asian paintings. Artsy brushstrokes, modern obi belts, kimono vests, and plum blossoms.
White on white, but this gives you a close up look at the styling of the hair and make up (both by Shiseido).
The line up of models.
If only I had boobs (and I could wear all the Natori lingerie), I would also wear this dress.
Different models with the vivid and bold brushstrokes.
Modern silhouette column gown.
I love the dress on the left! (and I SWEAR I made this call before they chose this dress for the cover of WWD! Swear!)
Bright colors.
The go to shoe of the show
Modern kimono with incredible embroidery and beading! Think of how long it took to hand bead and create this piece of art! Divine!
The scene.
Drinking champagne, but of course.
CHA-CHING! CHEERS!
Me and my honey-bunny. No judgement on my fashion show outfit — I literally ran out of the house and barely made it. In between the start of BOTH kids in school, tutoring, and the rain, I have no idea how I made it there in one piece. Hence, my casual look. #Baller
Thumbs up to sneakers! Say no to heels and say yes to tie dye sneakers!
The end. The hour flew by — the music was pumping, the crowd was talking, evening was oooohing and aaaahing. Fun afternoon!
Josie Natori and her models — hard to pick her out because she is just as teeney tiny as the models, and even MORE beautiful than them.
The exit. Official NYFW
And here is today’s cover of WWD!!
Huge congratulations to the entire Natori team for an incredible afternoon! What a grand success. Now, back to the less-so-glamorous-reality of being a mother and dealing with the first few days of SCHOOL! Have a fabulous weekend.
Congratulations.. Love!
Gorgeous! I want the invite next year.
AMAZING!!!
I love it all. Josie’s necklace is my favorite part, so stunning!
Are those the tie dye supergas? Obvi a high fashion super stylish choice! Congrats to team Natori!
