This morning when I was walking the dog, I was in disbelief that there were Christmas lights on so many of the stores along Madison Avenue….but then I realized, we are 2/3 done with November and it is almost December….how did this happen? In any case, Christmas light season here we are. And here is what I am currently loving.
1. Bonbon Candies
When I went to visit Cruzzie, I thought it would be nice to bring him and his friends something from NYC to CA. It had to be compact, easy to travel with, and something everything would like — which turns out to be candy. Bonbon candy. It was a huge hit and worth lugging it across the country.
2. In N Out
I know that this is obvious — who DOESN’T love In-n-out, but I just had to post it because the Natori Family loves is so much. On my final morning with Cruzzie, we drove 30 minutes (each way) to get a double double. At 10:30 am. WORTH IT.
3. The Dutchess
It seems that every time I am in Ojai, I stop by The Dutchess multiple times. Like every single day. It is slow, overpriced, but oh so incredible. Literally, everything in there is perfection — the almond cakes, the macaroons, the coffee, the egg sandwiches, EVERYTHING. I dream about this place when not in Ojai.
4. Ojai Tortilla House
Well apparently all I love is food these days. This taco stand in Ojai, is just a tiny little counter where you walk up and order a burrito or tacos. We loved it so much that we had to eat it on the sidewalk next door because we couldn’t wait to eat it. A must eat when in Ojai (and if you can tell, I think Ojai is pretty incredible and everyone needs to visit!)
5. Hamilton
Went to Hamilton for my third time, but took Tusia for her first time. It was my favorite time YET. Sure, it wasn’t the original cast which saw with my husband way back when — but there was something about it that made it so special. Maybe it was because Tusia knew every single word beforehand, so she was beyond excited to see it, or just seeing her smile the entire show. But man, so good, so good.
6. The Little Prince Statue
I feel like I know every statue in and around Central Park, but last week, I came across this whimsical Le Petit Prince statue that I had never seen before. Sure enough, it’s only a year old (I can’t believe I had not seen it before), and oh man, I love it. LOVE.
7. Chocolate Mousse at Fleming
HANDS DOWN, Tusia’s favorite dessert is chocolate mousse. And she is a chocolate mousse connoisseur — she knows good from bad to the best. And the chocolate mousse from Fleming ranks highest. She eats it all in 30 seconds.
