Needlepoint Pointers

If you are a needlepointer (or interested in needlepointing), then this post is for YOU! In the past 16 months of my new found hobby, I have done a lot of research (and trial and error) on what works and doesn’t work. And because I am a sharer, here are various tips / pointers on websites, threads, anything and everything needlepoint that has worked for ME! (And if you have any favorites, please share with me, too!)

My most recent project!

FAVORITE ONLINE STORES

* Greystone Needlepoint

A store with a great collection of everything — and also a great instagram account to follow for ideas and inspiration!

* Lycette

A solid mixture of classic to pop culture.

* Enriched Stitch

The brick and mortar store (in CT) is also extremely helpful and a great resource. I send a lot of my projects to them to finish or order specific canvases.

FAVORITE CANVAS ARTISTS

* Pip and Roo

My obsession last summer was creating bookmarks from all the different beverages from Pip and Roo.

* Thorn Alexander

I love everything by Thorn Alexander.

* Jean Smith

A more preppy and classic take, but beautiful and floral always makes me happy.

FAVORITE THREADS

* Silk and Ivory (50% silk, 50% Merino Wool)

This thread is way more expensive than plain old cotton string — but it makes the biggest difference and I will never go back to cotton.

FAVORITE CUSTOM ARTISTS

* Denise Strasser

As mentioned earlier this summer in a post, I worked with Denise to paint and create a Snoop Dog for me — and this was the result. Can’t wait to work with her on more projects.

FAVORITE FINISHER

* Chairloom

Chairloom (based in PA) does the best pillows, stools and chairs. CALL THEM IMMEDIATELY.

FAVORITE SCISSORS YOU CAN FLY WITH

* Little Love Scissors

I just discovered that you can bring scissors on the plane (if they are tiny and less than 4 inches) and these little scissors are life changing. A MUST.

So there you have it — the resources I use for my needlepoint hobby. Any new hobbies I need to pick up? Do share!
