After a personal recommendation AND reading about it in the NYTimes, we decided to trek to Ridgewood, a neighborhood in Queens, to try out the restaurant Rolo’s. Definitely a trains-plane-automobile situation to get there, but the food and adventure was worth it. The restaurant was started by 3 ex-Gramercy Tavern chefs (an old time favorite and Classic NYC restaurant) and every bite was delicious. If you are up for a different neighborhood and scene, definitely check it out!
And of course, on the 10 minute walk from the subway station, we came across a Biggie Smalls mural, which I love…because I love Biggie and most of all, 90s hip hop.
Cutest building on the corner.
They had orange wine! And I LOVE orange wine (mainly because it is so different and unique)!
My cutie pa tootie dad and the cucumber salad.
RIDICULOUSLY delicious flat bread — a must! The main event!
Leafy salad with the most gorgeous lettuce. Who needs anything else in a salad when the greens are perfection?
Delicious fish with lentils full of flavor.
Very bizarre — but it is what the NYTimes review talked about — “war potatoes” which were basically thick fries with tons of mayo and a spicy peanut sauce. Debatable if we liked it or not.
My favorite — the citrus dessert.
I always love trying new restaurants and places, so if you do, I highly recommend! And if you have any other new places to try, let me know — would love to add more to my list! Happy May!
