Storm King 2019

Every year, I like to make a trip up to Storm King Art Center. A 500 acre open air museum in the Hudson Valley, it is beautifully landscaped with large-scale incredible sculptures. Everything about the property is breathtaking and it is truly a fun adventure with family and friends. This year, we were lucky enough to be invited to an intimate Harvest Party which included a private tour, blue grass band, picturesque snacks and cocktails (thanks to a college friend I was reacquainted with this summer who just happens to be the Senior Curator for Storm King). It was an incredible way to learn more about the museum and its works of art. Thank you, Nora!

The foliage! The leaves! The colors! It was the *perfect* day

In previous years, we have gone on the coldest days, so with temperatures in the 50s and 60s, we felt truly lucky.

Cute kids, with huge sculptures in the background.

Yep — crazy outfit. Not sure what inspired me when I woke up, but I look like a Japanese teenager.

The piece E=Mc2 by Marc di Suvero. This piece is over 93 feet tall. Absolutely breath-taking.

HUGE

If you have never been to Storm King and live in the area, I highly suggest it. Bring a picnic, a bike, and explore the grounds. Don’t bring a football or frisbee (it is a museum, not a park).

All the colors!

Tusia wanted to collect leaves the whole time….

Me and the kiddos .

The four of us.

I highly recommend making the trek (one hour and 15 minutes from Manhattan) up to Storm King to explore and take in the beauty of this special place.
