Storm King

FIIIINNNNALLLLLLY, after ten years of putting it on my to-do-list for Fall, we made a trip to Storm King! And it was absolutely picturesque, glorious, beautiful, and enjoyable. Yes yes yes, our kids whined a little too much, and there are things we could have done differently, but overall, it was the perfect weekend activity….and we can’t wait to go back again!

What is Storm King? A huge outside art center / sculpture garden located in the lower Hudson Valley of New York.  500-acres of gorgeous fields, hills, and woodlands with more than 100 sculptures.

Yes, there was a lot of carrying around for the little one (she wasn't in tip top shape with a cold -- and yes, excuses excuses).

A giant ruler. From afar, it looked tiny, until you climbed up the hill and realized it was almost as big as us.

A picnic, sans wine, sans blanket, sans dessert. But hey -- we had berries, chicken nuggets, and mini pizzas.

Next time we visit, we plan to go with friends, bring a more substantial picnic and blanket, and balls/toys. We stayed there for 2 hours and only saw a fraction of the property. We could have easily stayed there all day, had it not been for our sick little Toosh.

Yes, basically rolling hills. And beautiful, indeed. The leaves were changing and it was story-picture-perfect weather and beauty.

A rare family shot. I'll take it.

  1. I’ve always wanted to visit Storm King! I think you and your family definitely chose the right time of year to go – the crinkling red and orange leaves look beautiful in that setting. XX
