Update on Mural

This past weekend, we finally completed the mural. Originally, we were only going to do the center part of the cement wall, but with the abundance of time and the fact that the cement wall is quite ugly, we thought it would be fun to complete the whole wall.

Final product!

We decided to do a floral theme, but have subtle political statements throughout. Not in your face but to the point. You can’t tell by the picture, but to the left of the center mural, the background is light blue, and to the right, it is light pink. It is kinda hard to tell depending on the light — and the time of the day — but I love it. Three separate murals in one big space.

Center.

Black lives matter.

Light pink section of the mural.

Hidden message in the flower.

Painting the blue.

Middle of the flower. Peace.

The end.

All in all, it was a really fun project. Everyday we worked on it, walkers and bikers would come and say something to us. It was a great way to interact with strangers and brought joy to everyone, especially us who worked on it. It was a lot of hard work, and Alagna (my 12 year old niece) and I spent 4-5 hours a day on it throughout the weekend. Worth it.
