This past Fall, I discovered a small independent bookstore in New Canaan that I fell in love with — Elm Street Books. Not only does it have a great selection of books, but the employees are incredibly knowledgeable and give great recommendations. Last weekend, I went in with three needs: books my emerging reader son can read on his own, books that I can read to BOTH my kids, and books for myself. Two different employees helped me out and all of their selections have been spot on perfect. Here is what they recommended! Thank you, Elm Street Books! We will be back!

Elm Street: Walked out with a new bag filled with books — nothing better.

Books make everyone happy!
Books for new readers

Books for new readers include: March of the Mini Beasts, Captain Awesome, Flat Stanley, and My Weird School.
Books to read aloud to different aged kids

Read aloud to mixed aged kids…Stuart Little, The Adventures of Henry Whiskers, Three Tales of My Father’s Dragon.
Books for YOU

My books! I Am Pilgrim, The Mothers, and Commonwealth.
I am so thrilled by all our new books! I must say that the employees highly recommended “I Am Pilgrim” and insisted that I buy it…I was hesitant, but now, I can’t put it down. Can’t recommend it enough! MUST READ!

All I want to do is read now. Is that bad?

Our loot!
Thank you, Elm Street Books for being such a hands on bookstore with a great staff and recommendations. We can’t wait to go back!
We need to do more to support our independent bookstores. Everywhere. Love this!
I’m in the middle of “I Am Pilgrim” and I can’t put it down. Fantastic book.
Are you reading the Books to read aloud books to Zoe too? We’re looking for chapter books to read to Nico who has gotten really into us reading him the wind in the willows. It looks like these books are for older ages than Nico or Zoe but maybe not?
