Instacart

After a feud with Fresh Direct last week (where I promised that I would never use their site again! And I am holding to that promise!), I suddenly found myself in a bind. Seriously — without Fresh Direct, how was I going to do a million things and be efficient / organized / get my food if I didn’t use them?  I love grocery shopping – love – but most weeks I unfortunately don’t have the extra time to go myself or with the family.  Below is my email to Fresh Direct…

Don’t you love using the word “Ludicrous?” Okay, so, all of a sudden I had to do some research on how I was going to survive without them. Sadly, Good Eggs only delivers to Brooklyn, as does Amazon Fresh. Thankfully, two friends told me about Instacart and THEY DELIVERY TO MY ZIP. PHEW, saved by the bell. And let me tell you — it is even better than Fresh Direct! I feel like I found a pot of gold!! So long Fresh Direct — you have messed up one too many orders, and will no longer be my go-to-store. C U l8R. And hello, Instacart!

Instacart is a grocery delivery service that delivers to you via personal shoppers. These personal shoppers look at your list (that you submit online) and simply DO YOUR SHOPPING. You can have it delivered within the hour (during certain times) or at least the same day. One and done. The personal shoppers currently deliver in Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Boulder, Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, Portland, San Francisco Bay Area, San Jose, Seattle, and Washington D.C.!

Yes, the interface on Instacart isn’t as great as the one on Fresh Direct, but the service is better. AND YOU CAN SHOP AT WHOLE FOODS! It is amazing! You can order from 4 stores (in NYC the stores are Whole Foods, Food Emporium, Costco, and Fairway) and have your food delivered the *same day.* I know, say WHAT? Too good to believe, right? The first delivery is free, and from then on it costs $3.99 (for 2 hour delivery slot, or $5.99 for one hour delivery slot). I am hooked.

My groceries. Perfection.

Here is an interesting article on Instacart. I am now a convert. Thank you, Instacart. I get the food I want (better produce, better quality food from Whole Foods vs. Fresh Direct warehouse), same day delivery, and a more personable experience. So happy with my new service that I don’t mind that today is #monday.

  1. Love instacart! I started using a few weeks ago and it’s been great. It’s interesting talking to the delivery people. the ones I have gotten are all actual Whole Foods employees working on the side.
