Thanksgiving 2022

Just got back from a whirlwind away on the west coast in the Bay Area. We decided to visit our best friends from Stanford for the holiday, and it was truly one of the best weekends yet. We laughed, ate, ate some more, ate even more, laughed some more, and just had great quality time together. Here is what we did (and great recommendations for anyone going to the Bay Area, too!)

MUIR WOODS

National Forest north of San Francisco in Marin. A beautiful, relaxing, and incredible sigh of redwood trees. Redwood trees are supposed to be healing, and just being in their presence felt magical. They are HUGE and ANCIENT.

We went on a great hike, down in the canyon and then mid tree line — great to see different perspectives of the forest.

Nature.

A huge tree that would fit our family of four inside.

SAWYER CAMP TRAIL

My favorite run in the Bay Area as it is a there-and-back ten mile run that is relatively flat, no traffic, and reserved for runners and bikers. It is along a segment of the Crystal Springs Regional Trail and could not be any more beautiful.

STANFORD FOOTBALL GAME

Ken and I both went to Stanford for grad school, and yet we have zero Stanford gear in the family. We decided to go to the football game, but I was most excited about the gear I picked up. I LOVE IT.

We stayed for an hour — which is impressive for me who doesn’t watch much football. It was late and cold, and Stanford Football is terrible, but super fun nonetheless.

ALPINE INN / ZOTTS

Back in the day, we would go to Zott’s — which was casual beer food on picnic tables. Now, it has transformed to an upscale version of picnic tables and bar food — it is truly beautiful, delicious, and my favorite place to visit. And dogs are welcome, which is always nice.

CALIFORNIA LIVING

Saunas and cold plunge.

…as a family.

Lots of neighborhood walks.

Fresh veggies and fruit from the garden.

Lots of lounging.

Truly the best time with the best friends. Can’t wait for Thanksgiving 2023. I hope everyone had a nice and relaxing holiday.
