Brooklyn Half Marathon 2026

On Saturday, I did a thing I have not done in a very very long time, and that was to run a half marathon. Yes, I run a marathon every single year, but it has been over 6 years since I last ran a half marathon. I know it sounds crazy – but it is a VERY different experience than running a marathon. The pace, the energy, the preparation — all very different. But for whatever reason, I signed up this year to do the Brooklyn Half (over 18 years ago, Ken and I did our very first half marathon — which was indeed the Brooklyn Half Marathon).

Race started at 7 am in Prospect Park — a 45 minute drive. Which meant, that I needed to leave my apartment by 5 am to get there in time to go through security, etc….It was pretty painful, but it was also very nice watching the city come alive.

The iconic Brooklyn Bridge on my way to the start line — which was very far from the Brooklyn Bridge — but it was the bridge I went over to get to Brooklyn.

So many feet, so many shoes — EVERYONE was wearing Adidas, which is interesting. I love finding out what the shoe of the moment is — and yep, Adidas — which is the shoe that broke 2 hour marathon in London a couple weeks ago — fascinating.

Starting.

Mid run — thanks, Travis for the picture. Can you spot me?

The finish line — Coney Island boardwalk.

Walking to the subway. With no clothes, just me, my running gear on and a gataorade.

Subway took longer than it did for me to actually run the race. I am not joking or exaggerating. 100 percent the truth. And yes, hi belly fat!

Toosh and I went out for linner — lunch and dinner. I couldn’t stop eating. We ordered four things — ALL were devoured and eaten. We did not leave one single thing on the table.

So, yes, a big production to get to the start of the race, to get back home, etc…but I loved it. Just a different type of run, and although not my fastest speed ever, I was happy with how I tried to be fast, powered through even the hard moments, and finished something I didn’t necessarily want to do. We can do hard things.
