JCN’s Office

We have all seen Josie Natori (my fabulous mother-in-law)’s home here (closet) and here (bathroom) and in magazines here and here, but we have not seen her office at The Natori Company (the office within the office). So without further ado, here it is — take a look!

JCN's desk. Her office is gigantic -- the size of our apartment -- with one side "his" and one side "hers."

Here is a (short) interview with Mrs. Natori in terms of her office. Enjoy!

Do you ever sit at your desk in your office?

I sit at my desk to sign checks, have telephone calls and read some reports…or have one on one meetings.  I don’t like spending too much time in my office.  I tend to be all over the place, sitting in on sales touchbases, showroom appointments, design meetings, working with E-Commerce, PR, etc.  I am involved in all parts of the business so I need to be mobile.

What do you use the big middle round desk for?

I use the round table for my meetings with more than one person.  It is also better for meetings when we are looking at fabrics, images, etc.

What was the aesthetic goal of your office?

Aesthetic….simple and calm, originally it was strictly for business meetings as I had another office on 19th floor for product meetings which was filled with stuff!

How often are you in your office?

I am up and about a lot between going around sales and design areas, design meetings, showroom meetings etc etc…  Every day is different!  One thing for sure is that I am never in the same place for too long.

So there you have it! The office of a fashion designer. Sometime soon (once I am back in NYC), we will have a full look at the Natori office — with the showrooms, pattern making, etc….Hope you are having a great week.
