NYC Bakery Run 2025

This past Sunday, I ran the first ever NYC Bakery Run. A half-marathon with 8 bakeries. Yep, the route covered 8 different bakery stops. All were incredible — and it was such a fun and different day! Thank you, Tipster, for putting together such a fun, successful and unique day!

The run was put together by Tipster. Tipster is a website and journal that is in the know of everything cool, hip, and new. This was their first issue in NY (It is based in Copenhagen) and it covered all the best bakeries. So it made sense that their big NYC start was a half marathon with 8 of these bakeries listed. We went to all of the ones listed above minus Apollo Bagel and Win Son Bakery.

This was the route — we started at La Cabra in Buswhick and ended at L’Apartment 4F in Brooklyn Heights. 13.1 miles, 8 bakeries, 100 runners

My friend, Alice, got me in to this run because the organizer used to work for her company (shout out to Pin Hook!). She is not a runner, but I convinced her that it would be so fun for us to do it. Which it definitely was! And so for fun, I bought us these t-shirts.

17,000 people (yes, 17,000 people) applied for the lottery to do the run. It was free for all participants, and we got an incredible goodie bag of all different types of gear (best goodie bag I have ever ever ever been a part of). Only 100 of us were chosen to run. There was a lot of press too, and they LOVED our shirts. I will post pictures of our international debut when it comes out!

It was a little shocking that we were literally the only people dressed in fun outfits. The rest of the runners were in all black and took it very seriously.

There were 3 waves of runners (to help with the distribution of the baked goods). Since Alice is not a big runner, we were in the slowest group. Slow but mighty. Everyone was so happy to be there and high spirits.

This was from La Cabra — cardamon roll — and incredible.

This was the 2nd stop – Radio Bakery — and it was an heirloom tomato croissant.

It sounds weird — but it was absolutely to die for. The line for this one was many blocks long — but we didn’t have to wait — our runners had a special place to hang out and eat.

This was from La Bicyclette. Very delicious. I ate it all.

This pistachio rose croissant might have been my absolute favorite. I am dreaming of it and will definitely go back to get this. It was incredible.

From the fourth stop to the 7th, I didn’t take pictures because I was maxed out.  (Just skipped two — so I ate 6 of the 8).

This was the 7th stop — sweet potato cinnamon sugar pretzels. OMG to die for.

From Elbow on Ludlow Street on the LES.

After the 7th stop (the last in Manhattan), we ran over the Manhattan Bridge and back to Brooklyn for the final 3 miles and last bakery. All in all, it was such a memorable day — and truly highlighted all the special and incredible bakeries. I definitely want to do this with other people so if interested, let me know! LOVE these bakeries and can’t wait to tell you all more about the bakeries soon!
