Shabbat x Nobody Wants This

One of my favorite follows on Instagram is Erin Foster (and her sister Sara Foster). They are funny, witty, smart, quirky, beautiful, and real. So when they came out with a new show on Netflix “Nobody Wants This” — I jumped on the bandwagon to watch it. Sure enough, I binged the whole show over the weekend. I loved it so much — the jewish aspect of it (The main girl falls in love with a Rabbi so there are a lot of Jewish traditions throughout the show), the romcom, the humor, all of it.

HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Cute, easy, fun.

All this to say, in Episode 5 is all about Shabbat (the Jewish day of rest) and how in the jewish traditions, families come together to spend quality time together. As a Jew (but not a religious one), I have taken to celebrating Shabbat by having friends and family over on Fridays for a low key family get together. It is one of my favorite evenings — the randomness of who shows up, what we eat, how it unfolds — I love it so much. This past Friday was our first Shabbat since we returned from summer break, and it was such a lovely evening. Kids running around, pizza, math homework help, etc….

Lounging together.

And we had boxed wine (will do a blog post on this — because it was so fun and different — just you wait).

We just are together, nothing fancy, nothing religious, just all eating, drinking, laughing and spending time together. SO, in episode 5 of the Netflix show, it reminded me of how you can celebrate Shabbat any way — it is just being with those you love. So, I will continue to host, put together these evenings (everyone and anyone welcome!) — they are so much fun. I highly suggest you all celebrating some type of shabbat (no need to be religious!) and watch “Nobody Wants This” STAT.
