I spend a lot of time in Oregon on designated runner’s trails, which have lots of signs (other than keep 6 feet away and maintain social distancing) that are little inspirational quotes. Throughout my summers in Oregon, I always smile and laugh when I see them. To some they are just words, but to me, they are motivation and inspiration. No matter how silly or short they are, just knowing someone out there is cheering us on, makes all the difference.
The signs never last long tacked up on the posts — not sure if it is the city that pulls them down or if it is the wind, but they come and go. So this past week, I decided that I, too, would contribute to the little bits of words along the trails. I spent a morning (yes, I have too much time on my hands) looking through books of quotes until I found two quotes that seemed to fit in well.
And then, Tusia and I drove to a nearby path, and posted our two signs up on posts.
I told Tusia that it didn’t matter if the signs didn’t last long — the point was that if we made ONE person smile, then this little adventure was a success. And most importantly, it made us smile — so it was a win win situation for all.
They stayed up for two days — and then on the third, they were no longer there. So now, we have to do it again! What quotes do you think we should put up this time around? There was a part of me that wanted to support BLM and dump Trump, but a part of me just wanted to keep it about running since it was on a running path…..we will also make BLM signs for the house window — but that is a different project.
