Crater Lake, Oregon

Last week, we jumped into the car and drove to Crater Lake. Although I had gone as a child, I didn’t remember my experience and the trip had been on my to-do-list for several years. This year, I was determined to make it happen, and despite the long car ride (Thanks Pups for being our driver), it was INCREDIBLE. A MUST SEE. A MUST GO TO. A MUST A MUST A MUST.

On our drive South, we stopped at Watson Falls, for a quick hike and lunch pit stop. Oregon always blows me away with its natural beauty and divine power. We were all mesmerized with the water, the green, and Mother Earth.

Dressed appropriately to scale big boulders; birkenstocks (for me), dress (for Toosh).

Staring at the water.

My babes. And some water.

The other viewpoint of the waterfall was this gorgeous scene. Almost seems like a fake backdrop in a movie. Too good to be true.

Next day after a night in a cabin (super rustic but super fun and relaxing), we headed to Crater Lake. And WAM BAM, crazy, MAGIC POWER.

Pictures don't do it justice. But in all honesty, it was breathtaking and unlike anything I have ever seen before.

We hiked (Garfield Peak Hike) and there was still snow on the ground (and I am wearing Cruzzie's hat, don't mind my dorkiness).

The family.

We will be back. Next year.

Trust me:  go visit Crater Lake. It is beautiful beyond belief with great hikes, incredible views, perfect weather, and an unbeatable experience.

Since I am in Oregon right now at my parent's house, I went on a full search looking for pictures of me at Crater Lake. Although I did not find any, I did find this gem. This photo is of me, my mom, brother, and our 1984 Volvo Station wagon. It was on a cross country camping trip in 1985. #Goals

And apparently I have always loved waterfalls and straw hats. I also wish I had that vintage gymnastics shirt I am sporting in this photo.

  1. Wow! The scenery is mind-blowing and to think this isn’t one of the seven wonders of the world. #tragic

  2. Waterfalls. Check. Wilderness. Check. Smiles. Check. Perfection. Check. Looks like all of you had an incredible adventure. I cant wait to go on one myself with at least half of the captivating views that Crater Lake has.

  3. My brother has been finding some real gem pics from the 70’s of our family hikes and day trips in our station wagon. They’re so good! It’s what I love most about living in the PNW – so many places to hike, camp, or just take in! Majestic lakes, the bluest skies, the greenest trees, and that perfect breezy sunshine. There’s no place better on earth than the PNW summer!
