Paris Food 2017

Although the US has great healthy options (salads, smoothies, greens, etc…), Paris ultimately has my favorite food, which we enjoyed last week at the Paris Marathon. We had great luck with the restaurants we chose and couldn’t have been happier (well, our stomachs are a little bigger, but C’EST LA VIE!).

Sunday Brunch: Our favorite, Cafe Charlot. Not many restaurants are open on Sundays (and Mondays), but this is a classic French bistro where all the cool kids go to brunch for seven hours. We ate and drank for hours on end. The food is delicious, the sun was shining, life was (is) good.

This burger was the best thing I have ever eaten. And this was AFTER my huge caesar salad with smoked salmon. The waiter looked at my crazy when I ordered two main courses, but hey, you only run a marathon every so often, so when in Rome......

Sunday drinks: Ritz. Newly renovated and swanky, so we didn’t exactly fit in in our jeans and tennis shoes, but we thought we deserved to go (hey we had ran a marathon that day!). We loved every minute, and highly recommend it to anyone. Worth the price just even for the drink.

Since we are so fancy and sophisticated, we went to the Ritz to have drinks. I had a glass of champagne and these accompaniments. (the truffled Cashews were out of this world). The glass of champagne cost as much as a dress, but hey, it was memorable and delicious.

Monday lunch: Chez Janou located in the heart of the Marais, which has lots of little stores and beautiful streets. We walked there, toured around, ate lunch, and walked home. (What else is there to do in Paris besides walk and eat?)

This was my grapefruit avocado shrimp salad to start (my tuna for the main is not pictured because I had some rose and forgot to take a picture).

We ordered chocolate mousse. Take a look at the serving size.

HUGE. Like Cheesecake Factory HUGE sizes.

Delicious. A sugar rush, but hey, I ran a marathon, RIGHT?

Monday Dinner: Frenchie. I had read many upon many reviews about Frenchie, and have wanted to go there for quite some time. We almost canceled as we had made dinner plans with my French sister (from an immersion program I did growing up) and didn’t know if they would accept more people, but in the end, they did. And it was fabulous. FABULOUS. Yes, lots of American tourists, but the food is incredible. It was a five course meal and one of the best I have eaten. In a casual and friendly environment, too, which is a win-win for everyone!

This was the cod, which happened after the amuse buche, the gnocci, and the pate. And before the steak, avocado ice cream, and the dessert.

Chocolate mousse FOR THE WIN to end the night (and yes, that day we had chocolate mousse TWICE -- which might be a record).

Tuesday lunch: Ham and cheese on the street. My absolute favorite! Could eat these everyday of my life!

My all time favorite meal EVER.

Those were the food highlights of our quick three day vacation! Still dreaming of Paree…
