I have been a big fan of Roberta Roller Rabbit  since my son was born seven years ago. The kids and I love the prints, the softness, and the ease of the pajamas. Additionally, all our master bedroom bedding is from RRR as well. I had the opportunity to interview Roberta Freymann, Founder and President of the company, along with her team at Roberta Roller Rabbit, so please read on for more on the company!
Roberta Roller Rabbit started in 2003 and has grown tremendously over the past 13 years. What do you credit the success and growth of the company to?
I credit it primarily to the wonderful relationship between the brand and our customers. We have always remained loyal to our exotic, travel-inspired world of colorful prints and our customers have continued to express their interest for more RRR in their lives; be it new prints every season or in diverse product types to fit their complete lifestyles!
What is your number 1 selling item?
What is your most under-rated item that you think should be more popular but isn’t?
Our table top linens  do wonderfully during the summer months but many people do not realize that we also begin to offer some great Holiday prints as of the Fall season. The weather might not be apt for a great outdoor lunch, but our colorful prints are just as ideal to ring in all festive occasions.
Who is your clientele?
They are definitely families, but within the family we are able to address most everyone individually. We have great, comfortable, beautiful, and affordable products for young moms, while at the same time flattering tunics and kaftans for grandma. Our bedding and PJs are favorites of boarding school and college bound young adults throughout the country, and our pima cotton PJs are preferred my mommies and kids worldwide. Our accessories and home products are also darlings to customers of all ages and genders.
You have stores across the country. Do you feel that RRR is more east coast / west coast / southern, a little bit of everything? How and why?
We put a lot of thought into where we open stores. Everywhere we are present, it is because we feel that there is a strong local fit. However, in many places for different reasons.
New York for example is our home ground. We have our oldest customers in the tri-state area and we have grown as a brand – together with them. The sophisticated, well-traveled New York family is an iconic customer for us, and it resonates very closely with Roberta’s personal background. The same rings true for our southern and western clients, coupled with what is also a perfect fit in relation to weather and local style. In the South in particular, women are more apt to dress colorfully, while in the West, customers respond very favorably to the natural fabrics we use in our designs.
RRR is very specific in what we do, but at the same time we’ve been very successful in offering something for everybody (or at least to a very wide range of customers).
How do you come up with the patterns and colors?
All design decisions are made by Roberta and our design team as they travel the world in search of design inspiration. At least 2 to 4 times a year, Roberta and the team are on location in places such as India, Thailand, and Peru in search of artisans, materials, and exotic sources of inspiration.
Your pajamas are a top hit with my kids and nephew / nieces – the cotton is so soft and luxurious. Do you use special cotton?
Yes we do! All kids PJs, and some adult PJs as well, are made of Peruvian Pima cotton which is world renowned for its softness and suppleness. We take the business of snuggling up to sleep very seriously.
What print is your top selling print?
Our animal prints are primarily our Kid prints. We have an entire selection of products that are part of our core collection, which are always available at our stores, are classics to our brand, and are always sought after – monkey, hathi (elephant), hearts, moby (whale), etc. Although it depends a bit on the season, it would be fair to say that Monkey is on average the most popular print.
How often do you come out with new styles and items?
We have 4 collection each year (Holiday/Cruise, Spring, Summer, and Fall), with 3 deliveries within each collection… so the answer is: all the time! On average once a month all our stores (and also online) are receiving new product. Some product is new prints on classic silhouettes and others are entirely new styles.
