Valley Nails

There is a new neighbor in my hood, a nail art salon, Valley Nails. YEP, who knew, nail art! I mean, I guess I did, but I had never experienced it.

Welcome to the block!

Welcome to the block!

It was everything that I expected it to be — a treat for a special occasion, such as a wedding (my excuse to get them done) or Halloween. A little pizazz and jazz to spice up a simple manicure. It felt fancy and fun, and I will definitely return to get more nail art before my next special event.

Halloween nails. I love these, but would never have the patience to sit there for that long, or actually be able to carry off this look.

As I am scared of gel nail polish (my fingers get claustrophobic), I opted for normal nail polish. Once you decide on that, you pick the amount of time that you want them tp work on your fingers. As I have little to no patience, I chose the smallest amount of time (15 minutes), whereas the more intricate designs take 30 – 60 minutes (in addition to the basic manicure).

I love this rainbow look.

Here is what my manicure looked like — I decided that I wanted a reverse french manicure, and some sparkle and glitter on it.

My nails.

My nails. And yes, thank you, I know that I am not a hand model. My hands are old, wrinkly, and hairy. But they work and function, so I love them. Plus my hands turn more and more like my mother’s everyday, and I remember as a child always being fascinated with my mom’s hands because they were hers and unlike anyone else’s. Except now, mine.

Sparkle, pink, and fun.

The final look.

The final look. My nails with my fancy dress, velvet blazer, and my Parisian crochet earrings.

Next time I go to Valley Nails, I want to get the rainbow or the evil eye.

I definitely recommend nail art as a fun addition to any outfit or as a great mental pick me up. Have a great weekend — it is getting super cold in NYC. EEKS.

  1. I’ve been getting into nail art lately too – and I’m 50! It’s fun and who doesn’t need more fun? Plus, you get to look at something that makes you smile all day :). Your mani is so chic and you have beautiful hands!
