And so it happened……my (soon-to-be-6-year-old) son lost his first tooth this past Sunday.
As many of his closest friends have already lost teeth, I have been researching (YUP, true) the going rate for Tooth Fairies. So together, we wrote a letter to the Tooth Fairy and placed it in his Tooth Pillow underneath his real pillow and waited for the Tooth Fairy to come.
So what is the going rate these days? I read a lot of different things — $1, $2 bills (which is what I wanted, but when banks are closed on Sundays, I had to start a new tradition), $5, a toy, pierced ears (a la Cruzzie’s beloved cousin, Alagna), etc….but one of my friends said a quarter — from a different state in the US so that the kid could learn their states (this friend is Queen Multi-tasker), as well as a concrete image of the Tooth Fairy flying….so that is what we did. Hello 25 cents!
Do you have any traditions for your kids when they lose their teeth? I am excited for the quarter trick, and to teach Cruzzie more about the different states — he was super curious about Wisconsin and wanted to know all about it (and then asked where his 100 dollar bill was. NO JOKE, we live on the Upper East Side of NYC!!!). Looking forward to more teeth!
