Humm Kombucha

Now that I am back on my Kombucha addiction, I have discovered the best of the best. Humm Kombucha. This beverage is ridiculously tasty and refreshing. Plus, it tastes so good, that it doesn’t even really taste like kombucha (oxymoron — drink kombucha that doesn’t taste like kombucha?). Every flavor is delicious and it is hard to pick my favorite — they are all so good.

And they are so right: Humm Kombucha makes you humm, and “Humm is more than a word.  It’s even more than a sound. Humm is a vibration. Humm is the sound of happiness.   Humm is music. Humm is the rhythm of the universe. ” And I certainly agree (yes, Oregon brings more of this side out of me when I am here for the summer!)

For those of you who DON’T know (sleeping under a rock, perhaps?), Kombucha is a combination of an organic culture called a SCOBY (symbiotic colony of bacteria and yeast) with a sweet tea mixture that is fermented for 7-30 days. When added with spices and fruit juices, it becomes a tasty beverage. It has an effect that makes you feel a little loopy but more clear, full but not stuffed, clear but not manic. The company says you should: “Hold onto your panties, because humm makes you feel like you can wrestle a tiger, climb Mt. Everest and then swim to Hawaii in an afternoon. You’ll probably need to strap weights to your shoes to keep from bouncing through the ceiling, and there’s a very real danger that you’ll be thrown in to protective care because of the ridiculous smile you’ll be unable to wipe off your face.” For me, it is a pick me up that gives me energy while being refreshing and soothing.

Brewed in Bend, Oregon, it is mostly sold on the West Coast.  I am crossing my fingers that at some point it comes to New York, as it truly is the best Kombucha I have ever had (and let me tell you, I have tried every brand and flavor #KombuchaSlut)

Also, huge shout out to a great woman-led company! Hooray to strong women! (Interesting article on them, go here). So if you live on the West Coast, drink Humm! Your taste buds will be ecstatic! (And I will be jealous). I hope you have a great weekend — Ken gets in late tonight and we are off to Sunriver tomorrow (which is right next to Bend!) and then, GULP, Summer is almost over….

  3. Thanks for introducing me to Kombucha, I’m hooked and today I found Humm Kombucha at a restaurant down town (Stockholm).
