Josie Natori Fall/Winter 2013 Show

Josie Natori presented her Fall/Winter 2013 Ready-to-Wear collection yesterday during NY Fashion Week. And what a great way to celebrate a Wednesday afternoon! The clothes were elegant, chic, slick, intricate, and wearable! Yet again, the show was a success. Similar to previous years, the show was more of a presentation than a runway show, which enabled viewers to really examine the details of all the clothing, as they were truly pieces of art.

The looks of the models were pulled from the 1920’s era with marcel wave hair and pursed red lips. The models were more fragile china dolls than mannequins. A very unique and deliberate look, the whole model ensemble nicely displayed the drama and complex look of the clothes. The clothes were made of the finest materials — merino wool, fur, silk, cotton, Dehair Angora, lace. And of course, there was lots of very intricate and beautiful embroidery splattered throughout the collection.

Blue and magenta pieces were the start of the collection.

The younger Natori generation.

The collection was inspired by 1930s Chinoiserie. Very deep, dark, and dramatic! I am excited to get some of these items for next year — the various pants (embroidered ones and cut out lace) are definites! What are your favorites? And of course, a big HOORAY to my talented and beautiful mother-in-law!  And Happy Valentine’s Day!

  1. Like stepping out of the set of “Mad men”! The “golden snake” (happy new year of snake!) pants are exquisite but — sorry Yaelita — black and gold are essential… What’s “a converse”?
