Harmless Harvest Coconut Water

I recently discovered gold. Not real gold, but a new coconut water brand. But this stuff is so pure, so real, so fresh, that it actually feels like I found a piece of gold. More like a pot of gold.

pot of gold

Pot of gold, aka a coconut.

I have always liked coconut water, as it tastes yummy, is hydrating and does a body good. But I have never loved it. That is, until recently, when I randomly tumbled on Harmless Harvest coconut water and I became an addict. One sip, and I was done. I needed more, my body shook for more, and I just craved it. NO JOKE.

coconut water

oh here it is.

Literally after bottle number 3 in 24 hours, I sent an email to Harmless Harvest to see if they sold cases directly (I like going straight to the source versus going to a big supplier). A few hours later, I got a lovely email response. Made me even more sold on the authenticity and quality of this product.

The crisp, sweet, and nutty flavor of Harmless Harvests’ 100% raw, organic coconut water leaves competitors in the dust. No competition. It wins everything — taste, approach, and bottle. It honestly feels like you are drinking straight from a coconut (someone called Harmless Harvest “Vacation in a bottle” and I could not agree more). Harmless Harvest sources their coconuts from small organic argoforestry farms, then they use a high-pressure process without heat to create this heavenly raw coconut drink. The main difference of the taste of the coconut water is due to their technique of HIGH PRESSURE pasteurization (HPP) versus heat pasteurization (which changes the taste significantly).

Harmless Harvest was started in 2009 (but the product took two years to be developed) by two friends, Justin Guilbert and Douglas Riboud, who were interested in creating a company committed to “positive consumerism and natural capitalism.” Their product was first sold exclusively at Whole Foods until December 2011. And now, you can find it in bodegas, Fresh Direct, and many grocery stores. Justin and Douglas consider the fast growth of their product to be proof that mainstream success can be achieved by a radically progressive marketing-free company without having to compromise on its social, environmental and economic values.

To find a store nearby, go here. I feel so strongly about this product that I could be an Avon lady selling this item door to door! Go find now! And drink up!

  1. Love this stuff, but it NOT CHEAP! But it is a good treat when you can splurge on yourself.

  2. Harmless Harvest is Hands Down the Best Coconut Water I have ever had, and ive tried plenty.! Would love to offer it to my clients for my business, how can I purchase wholesale? I would also just love one of those T-shirts.

    • A lot of stores sell cases at a cheaper rate. I know whole foods does, as do a lot of delis that sell them, as well. I think they offer somewhere between 10 and 20% off if you get a case. Harmless Harvest themselves doe not do wholesale with individuals, but you could ask! Email them, they are super friendly! And request to buy a shirt, too! How cute are they???

  3. This coconut water is amazing I’ve tried every coconut water around, homeless harvest has by far the best coconut water in the world.

  4. I tried an 8oz bottle today for the first time, right after a hot yoga class. Let me tell you, it made me feel amazing! I was having trouble with feeling drained after hot yoga (I was just drinking water afterwards), and a friend recommended I try coconut water to help replace electrolytes. I drank a bottle of Harmless Harvest right after my workout, and I was full of energy – able to grocery shop, run errands, anything! I’m sold!

  5. Naturally refreshing, coconut water has a sweet, nutty taste. It contains easily digested carbohydrate in the form of sugar and electrolytes. Not to be confused with high-fat coconut milk or oil, coconut water is a clear liquid in the fruit’s center that is tapped from young, green coconuts.”-*-

  6. Let me share the experience I had with Harmless Harvest as I believe everyone should know what’s going on as coconut water has been a huge part of everyone’s diet and I’ve given Harmless Harvest plenty of time to fix this problem. I’ve gone out of my way by contacting them via email and calling them about this problem. I bought several bottles from Whole Foods during the 1st week of January and discovered that every single bottle I bought was rotten. I contacted Harmless Harvest and told them that several bottles from lot number 170956 A, time stamp 13:32, expiration date 1/23/14 were rotten. There’s an acidic taste similar to vinegar and a fizz- like quality that can be compared to club soda when I opened the bottles. What was once water has appeared to turn into a cloudy, gooey mucus- like substance. They said that they would look into it and that was in the beginning of January and today is 1/26/14 and they still haven’t told me the specific reason as to why this lot # was rotten. I asked them to make an announcement on their social sites advising that there is an issue with this particular lot # as I’ve had diarrhea from it and so have my friends. They said no because they don’t believe that all bottles from that lot # were damaged. I told them that they needed to be socially responsible and let consumers know what’s going on. I have pictures and a video; yet, they showed no interest. I even asked them if they wanted to see the video and they said no, which I thought was odd because a company should want to know what’s wrong with their product. I’ve called other Whole Foods and Pret A Manger in the NYC area and they’ve told me that Harmless Harvest told them to pull this lot # off their shelves, but they don’t know the reason as to why. So my question is…..why all the secrecy?

As a consumer, you have the right to know what you’re putting in your body. You also have a right to know if a company is not being socially responsible or honest. Just because a company claims to manufacture organic coconut water and have a USDA stamp on their products DOES NOT mean anything. They’re lack of customer understanding in addition to their attempt to not respond to the problem is ludicrous and this company cannot be trusted. Just because they’ve said that there’s nothing wrong with the coconut water does not mean that they’ve gone out of their way to address this issue. They are not transparent and you should worry whether their product is safe for you.

    • I had a question one time about freshness as i buy several cases a week. When i called the company there were very nice and sent me coupons for further purchases. I found them to be very helpful and courteous.

  7. need cintact nbr to discuss purchashing the 100% organic water , this is vital to my health, please help me i need this like yesterday, thanks guys, peace out

  8. Is there something going on with Harmless Harvest Coconut Water addiction? It is habit forming and I am wondering if there’s something going on we don’t know about? It’s a great product, very hydrating etc. Hard not to love it… but I wanted to ask if anyone else has addiction issues with it– any problems in this area… is it just the natural sweetness..or are they adding/concentrating something there?

  9. PS. I love the product and am grateful for it as a sweet substitute–it also helps a lot with hydration during hot weather. It is an amazing product!!! i just was wondering because ti is sweet and it is habit forming.

  10. PS. i also consider this a product that does help with health concerns. digestion, hydration, heat climate issues… it is really excellent. I senior citizens, children and those with issues in hot weather could benefit greatly from this

  12. I think what you composed was very logical. But, what about this?
suppose you composed a catchier post title? I mean, I don’t wish to tell you
