‘Untitled’

I love breakfast food. So much. I could eat breakfast-for-lunch and breakfast-for-dinner. I also love going out to eat for breakfast. There is something so satisfying about eating yummy food early in the morning and having already accomplished so much by 10:30. These days, my favorite brunch spot is “Untitled” — a Danny Meyer restaurant (known for Union Square Cafe, Gramercy Tavern, and of course, Shake Shack!) located downstairs in The Whitney on Madison Avenue between 74th and 75th street. The food is UNBELIEVABLE and the ambiance is laid back and low key. Plus, if you get there right at 10, there is no wait.

The Whitney Museum

A perfect Sunday brunch spot. First, a delicious breakfast downstairs, and then for those with time, a trip around the museum to look at all the beautiful art.

The museum itself doesn

Untitled, opened in March 2011, and has been well received by critics and diners alike. The food is approachable, easy, and simply cooked. As with everything Danny Meyer does, this restaurant has incredible service, high quality ingredients, and top notch results. It has a modern feel of an old school cafe. Everything on the menu is delicious.

Check out the menu. Don't you want to eat absolutely everything on it??

Coolness

Dining area.

The restaurant. Bare and minimal. But the food is the main show.

As always, I end up getting the same thing every weekend. Pancakes for the monkey. And a grilled cheese for me. The pancakes are like clouds — they melt in your mouth and are seriously the most scrumptious and delicious pancakes I have ever had. HANDS DOWN.

HEAVEN

Buttermilk Pancakes!

But my favorite item on the menu by far, is the grilled cheese. I get aged gouda on oat bread with roasted tomatoes and avocado. YUMMMMMMMMMMMM.

Grilled Cheese

How perfect does this look?

My husband Ken is much less of a creature of habit, and therefore switches his order up everytime. Sometimes, it is a burger, sometimes eggs. This time around, he chose poached eggs with cheese grits.

Smooth and creamy.

Untitled also sells coffee and pastries like a normal cafe.

Display area

Pastry display. All the baked goods are made by local bakeries. Pies are from Four and Twenty Blackbirds, cakes are from Betty Bakery, coffee is from Stumptown, and ice cream is from Blue Marble Ice Cream.

Although Untitled is known for its breakfasts and brunches, it also serves dinners on the weekend nights with rotating specials and menus.

So if you are ever in Manhattan and in need of a great brunch spot, I highly suggest Untitled in the Whitney.  Danny Meyer food without the long wait (if you come at the right time).  Hours are Tuesday – Thursday 8 am to 3 pm, Friday 8 am to 9 pm, Saturday and Sunday 10 am to 9 pm. Closed Mondays.

Have a great weekend!
