Favorite Beauty Products 2018

As I age (less than two months from turning 4-0!), I realize that I am more and more into beauty products. There is something about these little bottles that make me feel healthier, prettier, and happier! Youth in a bottle….Here is what I currently can’t live without!

1. Bioderma Atoderm Creme

Sounds so boring and generic — just body cream. And yet, this is the best body cream I have found in a long time. It is ultra nourishing, has no smell, is not greasy, goes on smoothly, and does what it is supposed to do. It is the perfect hydrating skin for your body!  A must.

Big bottle and not expensive.

2. Doctor Rogers Restore Face Wash

I have written about this product before but I can’t say enough about it. It is truly the best face wash I have ever used. Natural, nor harmful, effective, and unscented. Wins all around.

Can’t live without.

3. Dr. Barnara Sturm Glow Drops

I was introduced to these glow drops by a friend in the know, and I am not sure how I had never heard of them before. I love using them after I put my make up on just to add a little glow and hydration. Perfect for that oh-so-desired-dewy-look.

Even the name is dreamy — GLOW DROPS — give me some of that.

4. Augustinus Bader The Cream

How did I ever live without this cream? Not too heavy, not oily, just the right amount of hydration for daytime.

Magic in a blue bottle.

5. Cle de Peau Radiant Stick Foundation

Recently, I went to Barneys with that ever-in-the-know-friend to visit my favorite makeup artist, Oscar, to tell us what we needed. As someone who doesn’t like looking “made up”, I always in search of low-maintenance but highly effective make up. So sure enough, Oscar told me I needed to get this foundation stick. And YEP, in love with it already.

Sheer dewy stick.

6. Westman Atelier Blush Stick

Oscar also told me I needed this cream blush…..and MAN do I love it oh so much. I am going to have Oscar come give a tutorial to me and some friends (who is in?) for day time and nighttime make up — think it would be fun *and* educational. He showed us how to apply this blush on the cheeks *AND* on the eye — game changer. Watch out — 2019, I am going to look GOOD as a 40 year old 🙂

Soft, creamy cheek color.

What products are you currently loving? Do share — I cannot ever have enough…..

Interview with Dr. Heather Rogers

I wrote about my obsession with Doctor Rogers RESTORE Healing Balm earlier this Spring — and it is true — I am fully addicted and can’t live without it. Therefore, it is quite an honor to interview Dr. Heather Rogers, the creator of RESTORE and a renowned dermatologist in Seattle. This is a must read for information on the balm, good skincare, and tips on how to live a healthy life! Thank you so much, Dr. Rogers!

And of course, as a talented doctor and entrepreneur she is also STRIKINGLY beautiful!

Beauty Counter Facial Oil

A friend of mine recently threw a trunk show with her friend that represents the beauty brand, Beauty Counter. To help support my friend (and therefore her friend), I attended and bought a couple of products, and I am totally in love!  My favorite hands down is the  Facial Oil …  I used an entire bottle in less than a month.  It is my go to for morning moisturizer, morning runs (if cold outside, I like to run with a lot of moisturizer on my skin), and nighttime. So now I am on my second bottle (and bought two more so I have extra stock #hoarder).

My newest skin obsession….love the smell, the feel, the glow it gives my face, and the moisture — a must have. Brightening and vitamin C facial oil.

Little but powerful.

Smooth, soothing, and oh so good.

The oil is a citrus scent but not overly strong, just the perfect amount of smell. It is lightweight, silky, and truly gives your face a nice glow (who doesn’t want to be glowy and dewey?) I highly suggest buying and using it all year round.  Try it!

Korean Skincare 101

One of my college classmates is obsessed with Korean skincare. Since her skin looks amazing, I thought we would all benefit from a 101 tutorial. Thank you, Bridget Humphrey!!!

If you want your skin to look amazing, bright, and blemish free, you should start using Korean skincare asap.  I stumbled upon this insight haphazardly. My friend mentioned how Korean skincare products are considered the best in the world. I was hesitant once I learned there were 10 steps involved with Korean skincare. But despite the hard labor involved, I thought I’d try it. (I desperately wanted my skin to be wrinkle free and bright.) And because the products are generally not expensive, I decided to be brave and take the plunge.

Once I started my skincare routine (years ago now), I never looked back. People started to notice the difference in how my skin looked, and I was hooked. I began loving and enjoying the 10 step process.

Here’s a quick and easy tutorial. KBeauty 101:

  • Step #1: Oil Cleanser
  • * You need this step to really loosen up the dirt and makeup on your face.
  • * I love the THE FACE SHOP Rice Water Cleansing Oil – $9, because rice is great for anti-aging (and this cleanser smells great)

Interview with Dr. Whitney Bowe

Dermatologist to the stars/TV personality Dr. Whitney Bowe is a dear friend of mine who happens to also be on the of the most beautiful and smart people I know. She has the looks (the bowe-glow), the charm (no one more charismatic and charming ), and the smarts (she graduated Summa Cum Laude from Yale and then was awarded a full scholarship to study medicine at the University of Pennsylvania where she graduated top of her class). Luckily, I was able to interview her on Summer Skin — this is a must read! Thanks, Whit, I love you!

I have been a big fan of Emily Weiss and Into The Gloss since the blog was founded in 2010. That said, when she created her own skincare / makeup line, I was reluctant to buy into the fad. Finally, two weeks ago, I caved into the Millenium skin care line, with its pretty pale pink packaging and snarky descriptions….and I couldn’t be happier that I did. I now understand the hype and popularity — it is that good. The brand, as described perfectly by Weiss herself is ” simple and effective but not too precious.”

Kypris Moonlight Catalyst

As a female in my late  30s (denial), I constantly feel like I am fighting wrinkles and / or acne. So, I am constantly searching for the right moisturizer, serum, magic potion. I want my skin to be hydrated (decrease wrinkles) while combating acne (no oil).  So when I found out about Kypris Moonlight Catalyst, a night-time serum that helps BOTH, I was over the moon. And highly hopeful.

Look at the box! White and gold and sparkly!

Josie Natori’s Beauty Routine

The minute my mother-in-law walks in the door, people stare at her. She carries herself regally, impeccably dressed, and is constantly glamorous and beautiful. In the 12 years (!) that I have known her, I have constantly been in awe of her beauty, grace, and class. So, I decided to ask her questions on how she takes care of herself (with the unrealistic hopes that it would give me the tools and hints on how to be as beautiful as she is). Take a look at her answers!
