Last weekend, we played tourists in our own city, and decided to visit “The Vessel” at Hudson Yards. After many years of construction and 200 million dollars, this new landmark and public structure opened up last week. Located outside Hudson Yards — a development of retail stores, office space, apartments — this structure is quite the site. It looks like a pineapple, or a honeycomb, and is the newest Instagram hotspot for all.
The structure is 16 stories tall and consists of 154 flights of stairs, 2,500 steps, and 80 landings. It was designed by the British designer Thomas Heatherwick. Although to some, it is pretty just to look at from the outside, we wanted to make sure to get the full experience and climb the stairs. It was certainly a fun activity and great to do if you want to play tourist (or ARE a tourist in NYC), but not sure one needs to go there more than once. We paired it with a walk down The High Line and it was a great day. If you live in or are visiting NYC, check out both The Vessel and Hudson Yards!
It looks like a very pretty bee hive. I have been seeing this thing all over Instagram. Guess I’m going to have to go see it myself. Do it for the gram.
As always your photos came out so cute! It sounds like you and your family got really good exercise. I think I would pass out by the time I reached the top.
