Summer 2017 To-Do-List

Greetings from Oregon!  The kids and I have officially relocated for the summer. Every year, I am a broken record with very similar summer to-do lists. It either means that I set the right intentions that I want to repeat OR that I have goals that I never end up accomplishing….I really hope that this summer, I am able to commit to my list and make it happen!

1. Learn how to breathe.

Waves = calming sound = meditiating?

Waves = calming sound = meditating?

Yeah, I am TERRIBLE at meditating and breathing, and I really need to get better. I find myself getting so worked up in New York and not able to take full and deep breaths. So now that I am in Oregon for the summer and have nothing to do (super carefree), I should properly learn the tools on how to meditate, breathe, and relax.

2. Teach Toosh how to ride a 2-wheeler.

Lots of biking in my summer plans.

Lots of biking in my summer plans. So I have to teach Toosh how to ride a bike, oh and also learn how to tie her shoe laces and be a good swimmer #Werk

Same goal from last year, but this year is the year! Nothing makes me happier than doing activities outside with my family, which includes nice family bike rides.

3. Go to Barre class 3 times a week.

Hitting the pavement! I have strong goals for myself this year for my running, which means committing to other forms of fitness too! Strength training, barre classes, anything to be faster and fitter!

It is my goal to have more tone and definition. I want a strong core, long sturdy arms, and the ability to kick anyone’s A$$

4. Commit to strength training and enhancing my running game to improve my marathon time.

I am a cardio queen and can run miles on end, but it is harder for me to strength train. But I know how important it is, both for muscle definition and speed. So, I am going to do it, seriously…. this summer it is happening #pleaseohplease

5. Not only am I going to be diligent with sunscreen, but I am going to wear a hat in the sun.

Does this count as a hat?

Although I love my freckles, I know that how important it is to protect my skin from the sun (and my kids)!

6. Read as many books as possible.

For anyone who knows Cruzzie, you will know that his favorite hobby for the past three years is reading the Lego Catalogue......counts as reading time, right?

Summer is the season where I read the most books. I love reading and am already excited to plow through my reading wish list.

7. Plan Summer 2018

I can guarantee you that there will be lots of Air France in my future near year! Let the planning games begin!

I know, it is barely the start of Summer 2017, but I am already dreaming up what to do in Summer 2018 — my list is long and includes a lot of European travel.

8. Learn how to do nothing.

Flying a kite is a perfect example of doing nothing. In my life in NYC, no way jose would I be able to just stand still and hold a piece of string and see how long it will stay up in the sky (hours)....but here, I can.

The act of doing nothing is doing something, and therefore, it is something I need to learn how to do. #oxymoron

9. Find new healthy cookie recipes

Steak tartare is not exactly what I was thinking of learning how to make, but how amazing is this plate of food that a friend cooked up?

I have perfected the gluten-free-refined-sugar-free zucchini / carrot muffins, but now I need to find the perfect healthy cookie recipe.

So there you have it, my NINE goals for the summer 2017. I hope to accomplish some of them, well actually, ALL OF THEM. Happy Summer, Happy Thursday!
