February 2017 Links Around The Web

With a blink of an eye, we are now 1/12th done with the calendar year! My oh my, and what a whirlwind it has been. Here are some good links and reads around the world wide web.

This is a picture of my handsome father in 1961. Born in Poland as a Jew, he was kicked out in 1969 and Sweden granted citizenship to refugees like him. In 1974, he immigrated to the United States where he went to Stanford University for another graduate degree. Thank you, Sweden, for accepting my father and welcoming him into your arms. And America, let's continue to welcome people of every religion, race, and background. We are all children of immigrants.

I once wrote a letter to the King of Sweden (we lived there when I was little and my mother was obsessed with the Royal Family) — and believe it or not, he wrote me back. And now, 30 years later, the Royal Family is becoming popular abroad too! (My mom is always ahead of everyone!)

  1. Thank you for sharing some good links- all relevant to what is going on around the world right now. Love the picture you shared of your father. It’s a great reminder that we are all children of immigrants in this country. The act of blocking refugees and other immigrants from entering our country, specifically based off their religion, is cruel and unjust.

  2. That is right- we are a nation of immigrants. Such a shameful and cruel executive order issued by the president. On a lighter note: Finsta?!!! Teenagers are constantly outsmarting us older folks with their social media savvy abilities. I can’t keep up! Very interesting reads- I appreciate you sharing them all with us. 🙂

  3. Great link to Mac’s (Funk) tweets! Fascinating story about Big Data Analytics in politics: elections, referendum, etc. with all the usual suspects as protagonists. And the pictures of the SeaTac protest — good job, Mac, the intrepid reporter!
