David Monn: The Art of Celebrating

On Monday, I attended a book party launch for party planner extraordinaire, David Monn and his new book “The Art of Celebrating.” David is not only a good family friend, but also planned our wedding (almost 10 years ago!). He is the master of style, elegance, luxury, and entertaining. Everything he creates is regal, beautiful, and thoughtful.

David’s new book is centered on how to entertain and create gatherings that are more than just an event — but a unique and beautiful experience. He helps the reader design events to be “shared, lived, and felt” by everyone. Knowing what David made happen with our wedding (which was the most beautiful and insane day of my life), I am sure that he has incredible tips and guidance for everyone.

This is a picture of the church that Ken and I were married in 2007. The church was beyond beautiful, not because of its own beauty, but because of the flowers, poofs of green and white, and the whole design done by David Monn.

Monday’s party was not just ANY book party, but a party extraordinaire. Think wedding, gala, black tie event, concert, holy cowness.

Embarrassingly, in my dozen of years living in NYC, I have actually never stepped into the Public Library. So it was a treat, not only to see the beautiful building, but also decorated to the nines.

Even the outside had perfect decor and feel. Of course, there was also the Super Moon outside (closest to the earth in 48 years), so that made it even more special.

Grandness. Inside, a gospel choir sang, an orchestra played. Basically, the biggest wedding ever, but for a book launch.

In true David Monn fashion, the decor was a lot of trees and branches and lights and candles.

I loved the trees because he secured the lights to the branches of the trees -- it looked natural and whimsical at the same time.

This was my favorite food station -- jamon serrano with cantaloupe and figs.

And good ol pigs in a blanket, too.

Thank you, David Monn for a terrific party — what a fun way to start off the week! And for those of you interested, go check out his book! He is an entertaining magician.
