New York Marathon 2016

I did it!  Two days later …..and the obsession and high continue. Here is my recap of the New York Marathon 2016.

Breakfast. Oatmeal, coffee, and flowers (thanks Laura!)

Breakfast. Oatmeal, coffee, and flowers (thanks Laura, for so much more than just these flowers!) And yes, I ate the oatmeal as Breakfast #1 before the day began.

My "pre-game" outfit. Old throwaway clothes to keep me warm during the three hour wait. And toilet paper for the narsty Port-a-Potties

My “pre-game” outfit. Old throwaway clothes to keep me warm during the three hour wait on Staten Island. And toilet paper for the narsty Port-a-Potties — but I actually didn’t use it so wasted AN ENTIRE ROLL OF TP. What a loss!!!

My actual outfit. In case you were wondering, I lay my clothes out the night before marathons. And normal days.

My actual outfit. In case you were wondering, I like to lay my clothes out the night before marathons. And normal days, too. Actually, to be truthful, I put these out on Tuesday night.  Yes, I am particular.

Thanks Auntie Em for coming to visit! Our babysitter in the morning while Ken drove me to the Staten island Ferry

Thanks Auntie Em for coming to visit! Not only was she our babysitter in the morning while Ken drove me to the Staten Island Ferry, but also the bestest bestie one could ever ask for.

Unlike 2014 when we took a charity bus, I took the Staten Island Ferry to get to the race start. It took a two full hours. And was somewhat of a nightmare. One of my friends actually missed her start time because the ferry led to a bus which was a disaster zone, and in the end, she had to start an hour after her start time!

"Love New York" moment

“Love New York” moment. God Bless America (let’s hope after the election tonight).

And another

And another. Yes, I took this picture #BallerPhotographer

My squad

My squad. And yes, I colored in the green letters of Cruzzie’s sign in the early morning when I decided it could use some improvement (OMG, I am so that crazy parent).

Smiles

Smiles and ragamuffin because I was gone and unable to do her hair.

Anticipation

Anticipation. Cruzzie looks like he is having the best day of his life.

Me (left, waving, orange) and Laura (right, waving, pink). Mile 25.

Me (left, waving, orange) and Laura (right, waving, pink). Mile 25. Laura saved me and is truly the best. Also, don’t mind my high waisted pants, they are super comfortable, just not flattering (I run for fit, not style).

Back home! Striking the pose. As soon as I smothered my family with kisses, I took a bath (and confession, I didn’t wash my hair).

We celebrated at, where else, Fred’s. All I wanted was nachos and they were exactly what I wanted.  I mean, WHO DOESN’T LOVE NACHOS?

Yes. Please. Now. And now. And more.

Action shot.

Action shot. And since it is election day, go vote.  And in case you’re wondering, #imwithher.

Thank you so much to all my friends and family for encouraging and motivating throughout the entire run. I felt the love. And for those of you contemplating a marathon, do it. Mind over matter.

  1. Congratulations on your run! I have so much respect for you and everyone else who raced in the marathon this year. Also LOVE your #ImWithHer shirt. I got to see some of the runners pass by on 84th and 1st Avenue and it was like nothing I’ve ever seen before. So much love and excitement for the runners and their loved ones cheering them on! You rock!

  2. Brilliant, well done! Great that you enjoyed the day and so lucky to have all that brilliant support! Love your race top, gotta get one of those for sure! Enjoy your rest time 🙂
