Raw Tortillas

Tortilla Land tortillas make all the difference!

Last December when visiting my brother in Seattle, I discovered raw tortillas while rummaging through his fridge. In a matter of seconds, I became a fan. These authentic and fresh tortillas are made from simple ingredients (only 5 of them!) and no preservatives. Sold in many stores on the West Coast (Safeway, Albertsons, Costco), it was a little harder to pin them down on the East Coast. Thanks to my sister who lives in New Jersey, we got some… from Wal-mart!  And they are amazing.

18 Flour tortillas in one package. They must be eaten in a week once they are open.

Tortilla Land tortillas come in three different varieties: flour, corn, and cheesy. As they are made with no preservatives, they are sold only in the refrigerated section.

If your household is anything like mine, you eat a lot a lot a lot of quesadillas. Snack, lunch, snack, dinner, you name it. Nothing better for the kids (and me) than a tortilla with melted cheese. And nothing compares to a quesadilla on Tortilla Land raw tortillas (after they’re cooked)! Seriously, you can taste the freshness.
No butter or oil on the pan, simply place the raw tortilla on the hot pan for 60 seconds and flip!

To watch a video of the tortillas being cooked, go here. To find a store go here. Cinco de Mayo is next Tuesday so you better stock up now (but they are good year round, obvi). Have a good weekend! We are currently en route to Stanford for the 10th year Business School reunion and can’t wait to see everyone!
