Locally Grown Tees

A proud Oregonian, I was thrilled to find these Locally Grown tee shirts last summer at a local Eugenian store, Plume Red. They come in multiple sizes —  even for little ones. A matching family of Locally Grown Oregon shirts! Pinch-cheek-cute!

But don’t worry, these shirts are available for every state. Not just Oregon love (but Oregon is the BEST state of them all).

I love their message — to empower people to connect with and influence their local communities through graphic tees. The company started selling t-shirts at our farmers market promoting messages of buying local, eating local and state pride.  It creates awareness of where our food and clothing come from, while helping people to connect.  Whenever I see someone with an ‘Oregon’ shirt in NYC, I shout out to them. Nerdy, yes, but it brings a connection and oomph to life.

One of my highlights this winter while running in Central Park in 16 degree weather was frequently seeing a man with a University of Oregon shirt on — it would make me so happy to shout out “GO DUCKS” to him. It formed a bond and made me feel like a community member in the city. Oregonians unite! So although these shirts are not a college shirt, they are a classy and chic way of representing one’s home state and community.

And I LOVE the tees! And not just the state shirts, but all of them. I hoard t-shits, and can’t wait to add to my collection. Next on my list are: Bike Local, Local, and Locavore. I basically like their whole collection! And they make the cutest gifts for friends (who also dig tee shirts, not necessarily a great present for, say, my mother-in-law). And did I mention how damn soft and comfortable they are? INCREDIBLY SO! Hope you are having a great first week of August. Happy high summer!
