Marfa, Texas

As mentioned on Monday, we spent the weekend in Marfa, Texas (and yes, ‘Marfa’ sounds like ‘Martha’ but with a lisp. Kinda like how my 4 year old son says ‘flane’ instead of ‘plane’). Here are some photos highlighting the 36 hours in Texas.

Our hotel was located 30 miles south of Marfa. So even more in the middle of nowhere. But that said, the vast country side was incredibly beautiful and soothing. The big sky, the animal noises, the nature, and the purity.

We stayed at the beautiful Cibolo Creek Ranch which is 30 miles south of Marfa. So even more in the middle of nowhere. But the vast country side was incredibly beautiful and soothing. The big sky, the animal noises, the nature, and the purity.

An early morning shot of the property. Cibolo Creek Ranch is situated on 30,000 acres with incredible views. And it is only 13 miles away from Mexico. Arriba!

On Saturday, I tried to go running, but then I encountered 6 buffalos. Buffalo chasing after me = not worth the risk.

On Saturday, I tried to go running, but then I encountered 6 buffalos. Buffalo chasing after me = not worth the risk.  So I ran back and forth in a line 6 times.

Maybe my artsy photo skills will make me hipster enough to be a part of the hipster Marfa community.

When in Rome....wear birkenstocks. OBVI.

We spent a large chunk of Saturday on a tour of the Chinati Foundation. We visited contemporary art pieces created by Donald Judd, John Chamberlain, Dan Flavin, and more...Although I am not sure if I "got it," it was quite beautiful and unique. The landscape set the tone and complimented the art. It all helped clear my mind after a long day of travel.

This is what Marfa looks like. True Marfa through my eyes.
