Favorite Websites

I love lists.  Some people hate them, but I love them! I love writing all kinds of lists and find ways to include them in every part of my life. For example, whenever I have to give toasts (at my brother’s wedding, at my rehearsal dinner, etc.), I give my toast as a list. “Top ten reasons why I love my husband” “Top ten reasons why Katie (sister-in-law) will be a good wife for Giora (brother).” I also find to-do lists incredibly gratifying and satisfying. I have to-do lists in a special planner and journal (moleskine) for various things. “To do Monday” “Want list for Fall” “Things to do in NYC in the winter,” etc….They remind me of what I need to accomplish, and I also love the feeling of crossing something off of a list – sometimes, I write a basic thing like “shower” on a to-do-list because it helps me manage my time. HA! No joke!

Even months (and years) later, I like to look back at my lists.  They serve as a reminder of times past –  what restaurants I wanted to go to that year, what I wanted to name our son, etc…to me, lists serve as a low-effort diary. They tell a story of what I liked THEN, what I did, and who I was.

So here is my first set of lists for the Josie Girl Blog: my favorite websites. The below is a set of sites I look at throughout the week, some for important information, others as a mindless escape.  Take what you want from them, and please share your random favorite websites with me. I would love to know where you shop, surf, and spend time perusing.

Enjoy!

  1. Love your lists – always. I can’t believe you revisit them…what a cool way to remember where things were a while ago. What are your top ten lists? Seriously? And what’s on your fall/winter clothes list? I want a leopard top, a puffy vest (got to get that one soon), and a pair of platform boots. Your turn!

    • Em — always love your comments. And yes — I am such a dork that I do REVISIT my lists. So lame, but so fun, actually! OHHH what kind of platform boots? and what kind of leopard top? and puffy vest? tell me more! I actually feel like I am done with my want list for clothes — mainly because I have been stocking up recently. Just bought two amazing new coats from UNIQLO — will have to write about them on a post soon. THEY ARE TOO DIE FOR. But I guess my want list, is more fun jewelry and comfortable shoes??

  2. this is random, but the most useful site i have been pointed to recently is awardwallet.com .. it takes a little bit to set up, but once you do, it keeps track of all of your frequent flier, hotel, and credit card points all on one website. such a time saver, and perfect timing before the t’giving holiday.. happy thanksgiving everyone! if you travel a lot, this site is great (and free).. thanks josie girl.. lvoe the posts!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • This is so perfect for my husband. Will definitely have to tell him all about it. He is my travel agent. 🙂 So if he doesnt know already, I will fill him in with this secret! Thanks for sharing!

  3. What great lists!! I love the advances in technology and how you can do so much on the Internet. It definitely makes holiday shopping a lot easier!!

    • I know — I would not know what to do without the internet! I buy everything online — including toothpaste and tylenol!

  4. OMG! Love net-a-porter.com!!! I need to buy a holiday outfit… Do you have a favorite brand??

    • I have TOO MANY FAVORITE BRANDS!!!! I always ooohhh and aaawwww at Isabel Marant — hands down my favorite, but too pricey for what it actually is. Love some things from Philip Lim, Cotelac is AMAZING and my new obsession. Just splurged and bought my first Dries Van Noten item — feel like I need to celebrate the fact that I bought my first designer clothing item! Love theory for everyday wear. By far my fave.
